About Providence Funeral Homes
Providence Funeral Homes is locally owned and family operated since 2006 and
comprises three local funeral homes:

Parkview Funeral Home, located at 1258 Main Street,
Penticton, BC (established in 1983)

Penticton Funeral Chapel, located at 501 Winnipeg Street,
Penticton, BC (established in 1908)

Summerland Funeral Home Rosedale Chapel, located at 13205
Rosedale Ave, Summerland, BC (established in 1995)
The professional licensed staff at these homes has provided many years of
service in our community and appreciates the friendship, trust and confidence
families have placed with them.
The owners and staff are local residents so they can provide a greater

Ron and Taraleigh Crooker
Ron has been involved in the funeral business since he was a young boy
when his father owned and operated a funeral home, and now Ron himself
has been a funeral director and embalmer for over 20 years. Ron managed
Parkview and Summerland Funeral Home from 1995 to 2002 and then moved to
Calgary for continued education.
In 2006, Ron and Taraleigh returned to the Okanagan and purchased three
local funeral homes. Together they operate their business and reside
here in the South Okanagan with their two wonderful children. The entire
family not only engage in their important roles at Providence Funeral
Homes but are very active in the community they call home. |
Nico Altena
Nico has been married to Joanne for 32 years. They have three children
and six grandchildren. Nico has been involved in serving the community
through the funeral industry for the last thirteen years. Nico has had
the fortune of having been part of teams, that have been willing to
serve, as one cannot do it alone. Nico and Joanne are also very involved
with the Summerland Baptist Church, The Penticton Noontime Rotary Club,
as well as other support roles of all communities in the Okanagan Valley.
The funeral industry provides the opportunity to serve the world, one

Brenda Hamilton
Brenda Hamilton is the manager of the Summerland Funeral Home Rosedale
Chapel. She is a committed and caring professional who is proud of her
chosen career as a licensed funeral director. Brenda was very pleased to
be recognized by the Summerland Community and Rotary Club as the 2006
recipient of the Rotary Vocational Award presented to the individual
demonstrating outstanding achievement in their chosen vocation. She and
Bob, her husband of 25 years, have two wonderful adult children, Brett
and Brie. |
Rick Wyatt
Hi, my name is Rick Wyatt. I've been in the funeral industry for 12
years. Have been married to my wife Charlene for 20 years and we have
three children as well as seven grandchildren. I have always enjoyed
working with the public in the past and will continue to do so in the
future. |

Sid Waterman
Sid Waterman is our Certified Grief Recovery Counsellor. He visits each
family - some on a regular basis - to assist during a difficult time.
Sid is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a degree in
Education. For several years he taught school in the Province of Alberta.
In 1969 he graduated with a Masters in Divinity Degree from Southern
Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. For over 30 years he has been a Pastor
in churches in Western Canada. |
Providence Support Staff
Carrie Hannas
Administrative secretary. Carrie administrates the
offices for the three Providence Chapels. She has a background in care
giving which assists in her daily interaction with grieving families.
Carrie is married to Dave and they have two children. |

Dawn Fraser
Administration and bookkeeping. Dawn administrates the
financial aspects of Providence Funeral Homes. She brings a good
knowledge of financial and managerial issues to the Providence team. |
Bob Carlton
Funeral attendant. Bob joined the Providence team in
September. He is an accomplished soloist and musical artist. Bob
endeavors to attend the apprenticeship program to attain his funeral
director license. He and his family reside in Penticton. |
