CALKINS, Joanne Louise

Passed away peacefully on July 26, 2017 at the age of 75 years. Joanne will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Richard, children; Dawn (Mike) Pfeifer of Creston, Wade (Caroline)  English of Richmond, five grandchildren, sisters: Georgia (Bob) Cairns of Calgary, Beverley Brown of Creston. Joanne was predeceased by her parents and sister Wilma Sarter.  Joanne became a nurse because she wanted to help and assist people. This compassion overflowed into the rest of her life whereby she helped those less fortunate from all walks of life. This resulted in her being sought after at provincial and national levels which took her across Canada and being a part of Canada’s delegation at European conferences to effect change to services and poverty. Joanne also had a passion for sailing and travel. A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 pm, August 10, 2017 from the Providence Funeral Chapel, 1258 Main Street, Penticton with Pastor Jim Statham officiating. In Joanne’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia, 300-828 West 8th Ave. Vancouver, BC., V5Z1E2
