Alice Marion (Lovell) Lynch-Staunton

Alice Marion Lynch-Staunton, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 13, 2021, at the age of 75 years. She will dearly missed by her husband Blake, children Shannon (Brian) Maggiora, Shelli-Ann (Tom) Boerboom, and Trevor (Christy) Lynch-Staunton, as well as grandchildren Sarah, Averi, Tristan, Evan, Patrick, and Landen.  She will also be lovingly remembered by her siblings Alan (Mary-Lou), Ann (Jim), Dale (Lucie), and Norma, beloved nieces and nephews, as well as countless dear friends.

Alice was born at home on a small farm near Onion Lake, Saskatchewan, on December 14, 1945. She was the third of six children, a little brown-haired girl with chubby cheeks and a button nose.

Alice attended a one-room school for the first eight years of her education. Neither her school nor her home had any of the modern conveniences, not even electricity or running water; however, her humble upbringing never held Alice back. She completed high school in Kitscoty, Alberta, and afterwards went on to the University of Saskatchewan where she studied to be a teacher.

Over the next few years, Alice taught school in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, and then in Lloydminster, Alberta. It was while teaching in Lloydminster that she met a young RCMP officer named Blake Lynch-Staunton. Alice and Blake were married on July 26, 1969.    

Their marriage was blessed with three children; Shannon was born in Lloydminster, Shelli-Ann in Ottawa, and Trevor in Vernon. It was the life of an RCMP officer’s wife, moving from posting to posting.

From the time they were born, Alice’s children became the most important thing in her life. While they were growing up, she dedicated herself to looking after them and making sure they knew they were loved.   And when her grandchildren came along, oh, what a proud grandma she was! All it took to bring a glow to her face was to be in the same room as them.

After her children started school, Alice began work as a real estate agent in Summerland, a career she took pride in.

Alice and Blake shared many interests, travel being one of them. When they retired and the nest was empty, they enjoyed many memorable trips to places as varied as Japan, Mexico, Ireland, Arizona, and Europe, to name just a few.  

Alice was predeceased by her father Tom Lovell (1985), mother Gladys Lovell (1996), sister Donna Fleming (2011), brother-in-law Henry Fleming (2010) and nephew Jason Lovell (1992).

Her love of life was evident in everything she did.  She worked hard, played hard and was game for anything, especially if it included being with her family or friends.  Some of Alice’s most memorable times included Lovell Family reunions, country concerts with her sisters, shopping trips, traveling with Blake,  golf, bowling, lunch dates with her friends, being a member of the Kinsmen Club, Christmases, and of course, she never missed a chance to be at her grandchildren’s events. She was always their “number one fan.”

Alice, even though you knew the difficulties coming your way, you met them with dignity, bravery, and grace and always continued to put others before yourself.  We could never have asked for a more loving, caring, and beautiful wife, mom, and grandmother.  You are in our hearts forever.
