Arthur Hill Obituary

Arthur William Hill, born September 18, 1935, took his final road trip through the gates of heaven on March 12, 2024. He faced his own passing with the strength and character he was known for by many.

Art was born in Burnaby, BC, to Reg and Kathy Hill. In 1947, at the age of 12, his family moved to Salmon Arm, BC, where he worked on the family farm. Art's father passed away when Art was only 14, and at the age of 16, he decided to join the workforce, where he got his first job driving a dump truck in the Kootenays.

From that first job driving a truck, Art was hooked and continued driving trucks until his retirement in 2010 at the age of 75.

Art married Norma Bailey in 1958 and they had 3 children together. Art worked in many locations in BC before finally settling his family in Naramata in 1963, where he remained until his children had graduated.

Art was predeceased by his father, Reg Hill, his mother and stepfather, Kathy and Homer Churchill, his brother, Vic Hill, his wife, Nola Hill, and his partner, Ann Jackson.

Art leaves behind his sisters, June (Herb), Arlene (Albert) and Caroline (Jim), his children, Gordon (Cindy), Kevin (Irene), and Karen (Michael), 9 grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Rob, Alyssa, Lexxie, Elsa, Ethan, Amanda, and John, and 14 great-grandchildren. Special mention to the Seddon family and Barb and Joe Rodriquez, who welcomed him into their families.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethel Church at 945 Main Street, Penticton, BC, on April 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. As it was never easy to get Art to dress up for any occasion, jeans and your favourite T-shirt is the recommended attire. Truckers...if your car isn't running bring your rig. We'll find a place for you to park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Andy Moog Hospice for their incredible care and compassion.

In lieu of gifts or flowers, and in remembrance of Art, the family would encourage all men to get their PSA levels tested.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
