Charity 'Cherry' FitzGibbon Obituary

Charity Patricia FitzGibbon 17 March 1923- 28 July 2020

Cherry faced death with courage and died peacefully with her daughter by her side in Penticton Hospital.

She was a long-time resident of Naramata, British Columbia, having been one of the early grape growers in the region, and one of the first women in the area to do so.  As well as her agricultural pursuits she was a textile artist who won international awards for her spinning, weaving and knitting.  Her interests ranged from politics to conservation but her passions were her gardens and books.

A private and reserved person yet she made many friends of all ages.

Cherry is survived by her sister, Mary (Dublin Ireland), children John, Thomas, Frances, Pamela, and grandchildren, Gamelle and Fletcher.

No service will be held.  A wake to reflect on Cherry’s life will be held when the pandemic is over.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the South Okanagan Rehabilitation Centre for Owls (https://www.sorco.org/); the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre (https://www.niwra.org/) or a nature conservancy near you.

On silent wings, her spirit will fly over the oceans. Home at last.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
