Merle Irvine Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Mom, Merle Irvine, on January 10, 2022 after a brief illness. Born on October 10, 1930 in Lawton, AB to Leroy and Adeline Golden, Merle was the third of five children.

Merle will be remembered for her indomitable spirit. Her positive attitude served her well over the years. She created many lasting friendships through her passion for health and fitness. She co-founded the “Merle's Pearls” walking group in 1998, participated and medalled in the Senior's Games for many years. At the age of 70 she completed the Dublin Marathon.

Merle was, sadly predeceased by her eldest daughter, Patricia.

She is survived by her three remaining children, Stan Irvine, Dave Irvine (Mary), and Tracy Bailie (Dave); her grandchildren, Tammy Page (Mike), Lee Irvine (Amy), Melissa Irvine, Sean Bailie (Alyse), Aaron Bailie (Amanda); great-grandchildren: Tate Page, Kolby Page (Mikaela), Addison Bailie, Connor Irvine; great-great-granddaughter, Hadley Page; siblings, Donald Golden and Barbara Dodgson (Rick); numerous nieces and nephews and her special friend, Howard.

Her unbreakable spirit will Inspire all who knew her, never to be forgotten.

A Celebration of her Life will be held in the summer, and when the Covid restrictions have eased.

The Irvine and Bailie families would like to thank Dr. Mark Lawrie for his kind and compassionate care of our Mom for many years.
