It is with great sadness that the family of Rhelda Charlotte Pawulski announces her sudden passing at the age of 78 in Penticton, British Columbia on July 9, 2020. Rhelda was born in Eston, SK to Ethel and James Hunter on April 17, 1942.

Rhelda was predeceased by her loving husband Anthony (Tony) Pawulski, and brother Stan King of Eston, SK. She is survived by her children; Darlene Westen (Frank), of Surrey, BC, and David Pawulski (Charlene) of Black Rock, NS. Rhelda also leaves her grandchildren; Caitlin Pawulski (Stephen), Cameron Pawulski (Pascale), Amy Westen (Nathan), and Will Westen, along with many nieces and nephews. Rhelda was also an honorary mother and Nana to many children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters; Thelma Pritchard and Bessie Gilkenson, and brother Stewart Hunter.

A long-time member of the Penticton chapter of the IODE, Rhelda gave countless volunteer hours over many years as shop manager of the IODE Charity Thrift Store in Penticton. As their Education Officer, she was passionate about, and looked forward to every year, awarding the annual IODE scholarships to deserving students from the local college and schools. Rhelda was also an active member of the Red hats Society and proudly embraced wearing red and purple to all their functions and gatherings; in particular, the pajama breakfasts and beach picnics.

Rhelda had talented personal passions – her sewing and her garden. An accomplished seamstress, she spent many devoted hours making beautiful items for her family, from everyday clothes to wedding gowns. She especially loved making clothes for her grandchildren, coining the expression they loved to repeat - “You can’t buy it- your Nana has to make it!”. If her old Singer sewing machine could talk – oh the stories it could tell! An avid and lifelong gardener, Rhelda kept a beautiful yard with a myriad of plants, but her beautiful roses and clematis took center stage.

We will miss her unconditional, no-nonsense wisdom, love and affection.
