Richard Feist Obituary

Richard Pius Feist, a longtime resident of Penticton, British Columbia, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the age of 88.

Dick was born on October 8, 1931 in Kelowna, the 3rd youngest of 14 children.  Being in a large family meant that everyone had to pitch in and do their share, enabling Dick to learn many skills and to develop a good work ethic.  Deciding that school was not for him, he began his working career at the age of 13 and was always able to find employment.  It wasn't too long before he found a job that he loved and would make his career from; driving trucks.  He started with OK Valley Trucking before moving to OK Welders/Air Liquide from whom he retired in 1996.

Dick married the love of his life, Eve Ingram, on June 18, 1956, and they made their home in Penticton.  Since 1970 they have remained in the same home.  Here Dick and Eve (or 'Sweets" as he called her) raised their 2 daughters, Karen and Pam.

Dick was a true outdoorsman.  He looked forward to every opportunity to get out into nature, whether camping, hunting, or fishing. One valuable skill he learned early in life was meat cutting, something which carried over into his life as a hunter.  Dick loved to cut meat whether it was something he or his friends had gotten while hunting or a side of beef shared with friends. Many enjoyable weekends were spent out in his garage, visiting, laughing, and wrapping up the meat. Dick also enjoyed carpentry.  From kitchen cupboards to bed frames to a highchair for his first grandchild he loved a good project and could figure out how to do everything.

If you came over for a visit in the summer, there was likely to be a game of lawn darts involved - and somehow he seemed to get better after dark.

In addition to his many skills and talents (everything from mechanics to moose calls), Dick was known to be quite the story teller, keeping the attention of young and old alike.

Dick is survived by his wife of 64 years Eve, daughters Karen (Daniel) Peters, and Pam (JD) Frame, grandchildren Daniel A Peters, Emily (William) Teichroeb, Katherine (Sam) Klassen, and Ella Frame, and great granddaughter Tess Teichroeb.

He was much loved and deeply missed.

Due to the restrictions which are the result of the current pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial.  Phone calls and visits are always appreciated.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
