Alix Day passed away peacefully on the 7th day of July, just one month short of her 100th birthday, surrounded by her loving family.  Her son Frederick Reginald Day and her former husband, Dr. Frederick George Day, have predeceased her.

Born to Wilhelmina and Kenneth Robertson in Cut Knife, SK, Alix and her family moved to Vancouver and subsequently settled in Garneau, Edmonton. Here Alix graduated from Home Economics at U of A and worked in the labs during World War II.  Once the war was over she retired to raise her family.

This gentle matriarch dedicated most of her life energies supporting individual family members and giving them a spiritual and compassionate moral compass to guide them through the rocky roads that life provides.

Her warm and caring personality touched many individuals with whom she came in contact, but most profoundly her daughters Sandra Kathleen Huntley and her husband Greg (granddaughters Alix, Mary Ellen, and Beth);  Helen Elizabeth Day (granddaughter Chloe); Linda Maureen Van Alphen and husband Marty (grandsons Kelsey, Robbie, and John); and Alix-Louise Day and partner Gary (grandsons Bryson and Michael); as well as great grandchildren too numerous to mention individually.  We will all miss you terribly Nana. 

Alix was especially fond of reading and was an active member of the Summerland Newcomer’s Book Club.

A Celebration of Life will be held for this gracious lady at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC on July 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Gay officiating.  The interment will be a private family service.

The members of Alix’s family would like to say a special thank you to the dedicated staff members at Summerland Seniors Village Residential Care Facility for the genuine and loving care they showed to her during her final years at the Village.
