Alvin Peter Kuhre

Alvin Peter Kuhre passed away peacefully July 11, 2018 at the age of 96 years.  He will be remembered and sadly missed by his daughters Lilly (Gary) Byrtus and Sheila Kuhre (Tim Shepherd); 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and sister Helene of Denmark.  He was predeceased by his wife Irene (2014), daughter Rita (2012), and 7 siblings.

Alvin was born in Bornholm, Denmark and came to Canada in his early 20’s, homesteading near Peace River, AB, but he was ever proud of his Danish heritage. He was a man of quick wit and lover of good humor who enjoyed cribbage and horseshoes, spoke 8 languages, travelled, and loved visiting with friends and family.  Upon retirement to Summerland, he especially relished growing his own grapes and making wine.

Many thanks go to Summerland Seniors Village, Dr. Wilson and staff at Rosedale Medical Clinic, Guardian Pharmacy, Summerland Royal Bank, Summerland Credit Union, and friends and neighbors that extended such warm and compassionate care to Alvin.

A celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC.
