On September 28, 1927 Rudolph and Martha Meckling welcomed Clara Joyce into the world in Morris, Saskatchewan. She was the fifth of eight children: Art, Margaret, Gladys, Lois, Roberta, Isabelle, and Shirley.
After high school Joyce went to Garbut Business College in Calgary, Alberta. While in Calgary she met Elgie Olson at the Wigwam boarding house. In 1951 she married Elgie - she was 24 and he was 26. They had 3 children: Roger, Cheryl, and Teresa and their dog Mitzie.
In 1965 they moved to North Vancouver, British Columbia where Elgie started his own business. Joyce did the bookwork and accounting and together the company was called Eljo Products.
Upon retirement, Joyce and Elgie moved to the Okanagan where they enjoyed the warm weather. Joyce enjoyed playing the piano, cards and crokinole as well as doing puzzles and making her famous pancakes. Most of all Joyce loved entertaining and the company of friends and family. Her life was a blessing to all of us. She will be greatly missed.
