It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Doreen Everna Irving (nee Jackman) after a lengthy illness with family at her side on December 21, 2017 at the age of 88.

Doreen was born June 9, 1929 in Nelson B.C., She attended Hume, Trafalgar and Nelson High Schools.  She worked at 4X Bakery, Civic Theatre, and various other jobs in her younger years.

She married Robert (Bob) in August 1950.  She was a very proud Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, who lived for her family whom she loved and was loved dearly.  She will be so missed.  Mom was very proud of her work with The Nelson Museum and was bestowed a Lifetime Membership.  She also loved being with her United Church #56 Unit and friends at Granite Manor.

Mom was pre-deceased by her loving husband Robert in 1989 of ALS, her parents, Mary Louise and Edward Thomas Jackman, her brothers, Cyril, Gilbert, Lorne, Wilfred, Robert, Ted and Jim Jackman, her only sister Marg (Jim) Wiseman, her Son in Law Alan Kilpatrick, and her very dear friends Martha Chernoff and Pearl Hesse.

She is survived by her Daughters, Brenda (Bo), Bev (Russ), and son Robert (Linda).  Grandchildren, Lua (Mike), Joshua (Jen), Ricky, Ryan (Justin), Kali (Silas), Great Grandchildren, Brayden, Hailee, Caius, brother Bill Jackman (Irene),many nieces and nephews on both sides, many wonderful friends and special long-time friend Gladys Frocklage.

There will be no funeral at Mom’s request, however, she requested a Celebration of Life with friends and family at a later date in Spring/early Summer.  In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to ALS Society (Lou Gehrig), Cancer Society, #56 Unit United Church or a charity of choice.

Graham Funeral Home is in care of arrangements where mom will be cremated and laid to rest beside her husband in Nelson Cemetery.  Special thanks to Rev. David Boyd of Nelson United Church and EVERY hospital staff member who was instrumental in her care at KLDH.  They were her extended family the last four months of her stay.
