Helena Tavares

On June 17, 2018, Helena Tavares passed away peacefully in her sleep, at McKinney Place in Oliver, at the age of 92 years.

Helena was born in Santo Espirito, Santa Maria, Acores – Portugal on August 25, 1925.  She moved to Canada with her son, in March of 1960, where she joined her husband, who had already settled in Penticton three years earlier.  A year later they welcomed a daughter and enjoyed the beautiful Okanagan life.

Helena was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Agostinho Tavares, on Jan.5, 1992.  She will be sadly missed by her son Joe, his wife Lina, her daughter Maria and grandchildren Michael (Stacy) and Marianne, all of Penticton.

A Prayer Service will be held Monday, June 25, 2018 at 7:00 PM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church 1298 Main Street. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Rex Velmonte officiationg.  Burial at Penticton Lakeview Cemetery will follow.
