Jeannine Marie Therese (Vincent) Gauthier

In loving memory of Jeannine (Marie Therese) Gauthier ( February 3, 1932 – February 20, 2019)

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and confidant and one of life’s greatest professors, Jeannine Gauthier (nee Vincent) of Summerland, BC, on February  20, 2019 at the age of 87 with her family by her side.

Born in Normandeau, AB, Jeannine became a passionate teacher and educator pioneering north to Yellowknife, NT in 1949. There she met her husband Henri, raised a family of six, and began her life-long teaching career at St. Patrick’s School sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for education with hundreds of children.

In 1981 Jeannine (Henri) relocated to Summerland, BC where she continued to teach and contributed significantly to the development of the French Cadre Program within the local school district. Her kindness, generosity, compassion, and dedication to her students made her a stalwart in the halls of learning. Always civic minded, Jeannine worked tirelessly to support the Vision Impaired Club and was a much loved member of the Catholic Women’s League and her church community. 

Jeannine was predeceased by her loving husband Henri of 52 years; sister Madeline DuRocher; and brothers Jean Paul, Marcel, Charles, and Robert Vincent. She will be deeply and sorrowfully missed and remembered by her sons Vincent (Alison), and Marc (Rachel); daughters Lauraine Derman, Henriette (Robert) Goode, Denise Gauthier, and Michelle (Marc) Gagnon; her 15 grandchildren Allen, Annette, Jean Yves, Adam, Michelle, Kirsten, Maggie, Aimee, Matthieu, Benjamin, Keegen, Simon, Philippe, Nicolas, and Luke; and her 7 great grandchildren Elliot, Felicia, Hollis, Saydie, Isla, Asher, and Silas.

A Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Holy Child Catholic Church in Summerland, BC followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
