August 20, 1920 ~ May 24, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Bolton, Marianne

August 20, 1920 – May 24, 2017 (age 96)

It is with love and grateful hearts we remember an amazing long healthy life of 96 years that was well lived. Marianne passed away peacefully on May 24, 2017 at the Penticton General Hospital with her family by her side following a stroke a week earlier.

She is lovingly remembered and missed by her son Tony Novotny of Manning, AB, daughter Pauline (Ken) Yaeger of Kelowna, BC; her grandchildren TerryAnn (Wayne), Jane (Tim), Martin (Melanie), Kim (Joseph), Karla (Joe), Christal (Dave); great grandchildren Rory, Tyler, Kristopher, Megan, Ciara, Maklen, Zachary, Ryder, Rose; niece Rose (David) Mckill;

son-in-law Karl (Ardell) Johansen; stepchildren Linda (Bob) Kirwan, Eldon (Pearl) Bolton, Lonnie (Vivian) Bolton, Mark Bolton and their families. Marianne was predeceased by her first husband Antonin (Tony) Novotny (1979), her parents Felix (1982) and Paulina Zegzula (1979), her sister Jenny (1964) and brother Bruno, her daughter Anne (1996), her second husband Wesley Bolton (2008).

Marianne was born in Adelina, Poland and at the age of 8 immigrated to Canada with her parents and two younger siblings. They settled on a homestead in Dixonville, Alberta where she later met and married Tony, the handsome Czechoslovakian bachelor from the farm next door in 1936. Here they raised their three children and continued to work the farm until their retirement and move to Grimshaw, Alberta in 1975. After the death of Tony and her parents, Marianne decided to pack up and move to Penticton in 1984 to enjoy some warmer weather and new adventures. Always keeping very active, she loved to square dance, play crib, cards and games, do crafts, knit, crochet, garden and travel throughout the world before and after she met and married Wes in 1987 with whom she enjoyed their final years of retirement together.

Marianne was an incredible loving hard working wife, mother, gramma, great gramma (GG), auntie, mother-in-law and friend giving inspiration to all around her. The love and dedication to her family was always evident. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor, fierce independence, generous heart, sharp card playing, those awesome butter tarts, her donuts and never ending ability to fix things and take care of herself. Marianne's life was a full one without wanting to slow down; she experienced more in her time than most of us ever could. She touched many lives and will remain in our hearts forever.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC.
