Forever in our hearts, our dearest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and good friend:  Marjorie Butler passed away peacefully at the Penticton Regional Hospital on January 2, 2019.

Marjorie was born in Sexsmith, Alberta on January 26, 1930.  She was predeceased by her sisters Doreen and Audrey, brothers Robert and Albert, and son Robert.  She is survived by daughter Lori and her family:  children Alexandra, Joshua, Jennifer, and Luke and grandchildren Omarah, Gage, Waverly, Jorden, Mya, and Wesley;  by son Robert’s children Ashton, Brett, and Megan; by daughter Shannon (Greg) and her family: children Joel and Mikaela and grandchildren Luna and Azalea; and by sons Daniel and John.

Marj was adventurous, fun-loving, and fiercely independent, and she always enjoyed life to its fullest.  She welcomed friends and family into her home with a smile and an open heart and many people will remember her with gratitude for her kindness as she gave generously to whoever needed help.

Family came first for Mom and she always took the time to make each and everyone of us feel special, as she was to us.

Mom had a magnificent gift for music.  She played the piano completely by ear and sang aloud in a beautiful rich tenor.  She enjoyed entertaining us with her singing and playing where even the youngest gathered round to learn from her.  Mom was the greatest teacher.  She taught us to be brave and strong, to have compassion, empathy and respect for others, and not to be judgemental.  And she always encouraged others to just be themselves as she always was – down to earth and real in all that she did and the way she lived her life. 

Mom loved to talk, tell stories, and have a good laugh.  No matter who she came in contact with, she was loved. 

We will miss her dearly and she will truly remain forever in our hearts.  Rest in peace.

There will be a brief Graveside Service at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Canyonview Cemetery, 10316 Canyonview Road, Summerland, BC with a Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
