Mildred Elliott Obituary

Mildred Elliott (Stein)

December 21, 1927-November 22, 2019

We, as a family with heavy hearts, announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, gramma, and great gramma ‘Millie’ at Westview South Pavilion.

Millie was born in Glidden, SK to parents Emily and John Heinrich, the 2nd of 10 children.   She spent her young growing years in Oliver, Osoyoos, and Summerland.  After meeting her husband Gordie, they married in 1947 and spent their years in Summerland raising 7 children on an orchard.

Millie’s hands were multitalented – she cooked, canned, gardened, picked in the orchard, upholstered, and sewed (which included designing patterns and sewing wedding dresses galore.)  Her hobbies included darts, horseshoes, crib, fishing, softball, bingo, curling, bowling, puzzles, and playing the casino and scratches – all this with no arthritis! She was also a founding member of the Summerland Kinette Club and a member of the Ladies Legion Auxiliary.

Millie was known for ‘doing it her way’.  She shall be missed for her infectious smile, her ability to see the positive, and her competitive nature.  She is singing with angels and the loves in her life that have passed before.

Millie is survived by children Sheryl Lynn (Don), Sandra Jean (Joe), Norman Bruce, Howard Scott (Laurie), Leonard Wayne (Carlene), Beverly Ann, and Debra Rose (Jamie); 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and siblings Edith and Jerry of Penticton, BC.

Details for Millie’s Celebration of Life will be announced in early spring.
