Ruth Sarah Louise (Dogue) Stringer

Ruth Sarah Louise Stringer nee Dogue of Summerland, BC passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018 at the age of 87.  She will be remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband, John, daughter Louise (Frank) Fenwick, daughter-in-law Cheryl Stringer, daughter Colleen (David) Wiens, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.  She was sadly predeceased by her daughter Kathy, son Rodger, and brother Edwin Dogue.

Ruth was born and raised in Vancouver.  She moved to the Alaska Highway where she taught elementary school for several years.  In 1960 she and John moved to Summerland.  From there they moved around the province of British Columbia following employment, from the Okanagan to the Kootenays, to Port Clements and finally settling back in Summerland.

In their retirement Ruth and John travelled to many places in North America including Prince Edward Island, Arizona, Mexico, and Alaska.  They also had one very memorable trip to Hawaii.

Ruth enjoyed field hockey, tennis, sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

A memorial tea will be held for Ruth at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC.
