Wilfred Edward Miller

Born October 23, 1921 at Castor, AB.  He passed away at Haven Hill Care Home in Penticton, BC on September 4, 2018 at the age of 96 years.  Wilfred was predeceased by his wife Annie of 64 years; daughter, Marna Muric;  his parents, Arthur and Helen Miller; his siblings, Vivian(Jean) Miller, Velma(Russ) Williamson, Clifford(Grace) Miller, Phyllis(Atlee) Hanson, Ernest(Isobel) Miller, Marjorie(Bill) Broderson and brother-in-law, Irvine Taylor.  Wilfred was the 6th of 8 children born to Arthur and Helen Miller.  Wilfred is survived by his 2nd wife of nine years, Audrey Charles Miller; daughters, Beth(Rick) Cameron, Bernice (Cliff) Millar and Rhonda(Rainer) Philipps; son-in-law, Robin Muric; & stepdaughters Deanne(Ian) & Deirdre(Dave).  He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, & 3 great great grandchildren.  He has one surviving sister, Maxine Taylor, who will be 100 on September 16. Wilf loved his early years on the family farm and had a never ending ability to fix things.  At an early age he built a windmill to generate electricity on his parent’s prairie farm; fixed watches after school for pocket money; enlisted for a short service in the Air Force; railroaded on the Coquihalla; & owned & operated a garage in Keremeos. He played a number of musical instruments in tandem with his beloved wife, & he loved his cowboy songs (yodelling included). He is known for his many paintings whose themes included early life in the West, memories on the farm, & local history.  And he will be remembered for his letters to the editor in local newspaper, & contributions to historical magazines. A Memorial to celebrate his life will be held September 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Penticton Church of the Nazarene, 523 Jermyn Avenue, Penticton, with Reverend Don Schneider officiating.
