Barbara Figueira Capelo Marques

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Figueira Capelo Marques. Born April 22, 1928, in Quintas de Sao Bartolomeu, Portugal.

On May 13, 1957, she married the love of her life Honorato and two years later Helder was born. In 1964 she followed her husband to France in search of a better life. In 1966 her sister Maria Jose and her husband Luis sponsored the family to immigrate to Canada and on December 16th of that year they arrived in Kitimat, BC to an avalanche of snow. A couple of months later Dad found work in Prince Rupert and the family moved again.

Barbara worked as a fish filleter at BC Packers until she retired in 1993. In 2000 they decided to retire in Penticton. She loved her house and especially her flower, vegetable, and fruit garden but above all, family was her #1 priority. She loved her daughter-in-law, Elaine immensely. She loved to prepare tasty meals, especially her famous crab dishes for family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Haven Hill Care Home for the care and attention they provided during her stay.

Rest in peace, Mom. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 1296 Main Street in Penticton Friday March 24th at 11:30 A.M. Prayer vigil, also at St. Ann’s will be on Thursday, March 23rd at 6:00 P.M. Condolences can be shared with the family by visiting www.providencefuneralhomes.com .
