Cecilia Catherine Burgart

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cecilia Burgart. Cecilia was born on October 17, 1927 in Camrose, AB and was the eldest daughter of Mary and James Burgart.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Harry (Rose) Burgart, Louise (Ray) Johnson and Josephine (John) Stoneberg.

She is survived by her brothers, Willard, Lloyd and Allen (Mody) Burgart; sisters, Patricia Howard, Janet O’Flynn and Teri Burgart; her dearest friend, Veda Hotel, who will forever cherish her memory. Additionally, her presence has left its mark on the hearts of the many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Vancouver and area.

Cecilia was a graduate of Pen High and went on to follow her passion for teaching. She was a fun and dedicated teacher. She began her teaching career on the Coast and taught at a Canadian Military base in Germany for four years. This enabled her to travel extensively in Europe, and even after retirement, she continued to explore new destinations.

Throughout the years, Cecilia always remained connected to the family and returned to Penticton in 2017.

As we bid farewell to Cecilia, let us remember her with love and gratitude. May her adventurous soul find eternal peace, and may her spirit guide us as we navigate the paths ahead. In our hearts her light shall always shine.

Cecilia’s urn is to be interred at Lakeview Cemetery on Friday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
