Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Christos Cordalis, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, November 5th, 2023 at the age of 91. After 67 years of marriage, he is lovingly remembered by wife, Panayiota Cordalis; children, Peter Cordalis, Irene Pedersen (Chris), Avi Selvig (David), and Maria Nordlund (Dennis); grandchildren, Martin, Austin, Matthew, Kristina, Rebecca, Wynn, Annabella, Andreas, and Mimi; and great-grandchildren, Nuala, Ezra, Orion, Stella and Benjamin.
Chris was born in Limnes, Greece and worked as a shepherd before learning and working in the sheet metal trade. He married Panayiota in 1956 and settled in Corinth where they built a house and started their family. To give more opportunities for their children, they immigrated to Vancouver in 1966. After holidaying in Penticton and realizing how much the land reminded them of their beloved home of Greece, they moved the family to Penticton in 1975. Many locals remember Chris as the owner of the Home Confectionary grocery store in downtown Penticton during the 1970’s and 80’s. He always had a smile for the many regular customers that frequented this Penticton favourite.
Chris will always be remembered for his calm and gentle nature, his love of gardening, playing his many favourite Greek tunes on his Bouzouki and violin, helping his children with household projects, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and roasting the best whole lamb on a spit in town!
A Celebration Service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home, Penticton.
In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made to Penticton Regional Hospital.
