It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to an amazing husband, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. Colin Sidney Maclean passed away peacefully October 29th, 2021 at the age of 76. Born in London (specifically Epping), England, Colin spent most of his early life in West Ham and Romford, Essex. In 1980, Colin and his sweetheart of 51 years, Sandy, emigrated to Vancouver where they raised their two boys Jason (Shawna) and Andrew (Jill). For many years in Vancouver, they enjoyed the loving company of Colin’s brother Graham (Kathy) and family, their late parents Sid and Lily, and many great friends before retiring to Penticton in 2008.
Family meant a lot to Colin. He and Sandy could always be found at the kids sporting events banging a drum or waving a flag rain or shine. He spent countless hours helping the boys fix junky old cars, tackling wood working projects or generally fixing anything that needed to be done around the house. Colin was very proficient when it came to working with his hands. In his earlier years he apprenticed as a Tool and Dye maker in England and later became a successful Property Manager for some of Vancouver’s most well known downtown office buildings.
Colin loved his grandchildren dearly (Emily, Kayden & Jake). You could always tell that he was at peace when they were around and he would never miss an opportunity to steal a hug, a tickle or a laugh. We will cherish the photos and memories of his smile when the grand kids were with him.
Colin is known best as a gentle, kind hearted man who brightened the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He danced and sang like nobody was watching, he walked down the street and said hello to everyone, he laughed and made people smile. He has taught us so much about how to raise our families, how to treat others and how to enjoy life. We love him and will miss him, but will never forget him.
Colin always enjoyed a good party, so in fitting fashion we will be hosting two celebrations of life in his honor. One will be held in Penticton for family and close friends of the Okanagan. Another will be held in Vancouver for family and friends of the lower mainland. It is with great regret that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the number of attendees will be by invitation only.
