It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, father & friend Darren Oslund, on August 22 at the Penticton Hospital after a 9 month struggle with heart failure. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Ralph and Sharlene, three sisters Bonnie (Kelvin) Campbell, Cheryl (Rob) Brydon, LeAnne (Mehzad) Mohadesin, his brother, Brent (Jodi) Oslund, his son James and mother to James, Lynn Erickson, good friend Kathie Steuart, and many nieces & nephews.
Darren was born in Drayton Valley, Alberta and in 1965 the family moved to Penticton. After high school graduation, he attended Okanagan College in Kelowna, George Brown College in Toronto and Aurora College in Yellowknife. In 1982 Darren won a scholarship from the Canadian Jewellery Association to attend the CFH Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland where he graduated with a diploma in watch, jewelry and sales management. He has always enjoyed being in the jewelry business. He also had a successful snow removal business for 20 years in the Penticton area.
Darren volunteered with many community organizations throughout his life - Cubs & Scouts, Peach Festival, and the Kin Club, just to name a few. At the age of 16 he became the first president of the Fly Fishers Association. He loved golfing, rugby and had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping and computer management. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private family celebration of life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Penticton Regional Hospital.
