With her niece by her side, Christ came, took her home and joy filled her heart. How great Thou art.
An elegant, kind, loving, caring, positive, sweet lady, a ray of natural light and constant inspiration to those she touched, was the essence of Evelyn. Her unforgettable smile lit up so many lives. She loved to dance and travel the world, and lived a long, happy, healthy, pharmaceutical-free, and independent life for 98 ¾ years. She loved her family and friends "dearly".
Evie and Pat Kereluk moved to Summerland in 1973 and settled 35 acres on the banks of Trout Creek. Together they developed the area, hence the road named 'Kereluk Rd'. She was clever and bright, and by choice, still worked as a bookkeeper at 94. As a deeply loved and influential elder, she moved through life and towards her death with beauty, grace and dignity.
She is predeceased by her husbands Pat Kereluk and later Fred Zaharuk, her sister Beth, and her brothers Ross and Mervyn. She leaves behind her sister Daphne, her brothers Bill, Terry, Cecil (June) and Ron (Diane), her son Danny, her grandsons Evan (Danae), Landon, her daughter-in-law Evangeline, great-granddaughter Ira, and expected great grandbaby. She also leaves behind and will forever be loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Evie’s memory to the Summerland Food Bank and Resource Centre.
