Fern Emily (Fulmore) Repchinski was born July 21, 1932 in Estevan, SK. On October 16, 2023, she went very peacefully to meet Jesus, with family by her side, at 91 years of age.
Fern was a people person, always putting others first. In 1952 she married Arnold Fulmore of Macoun, SK and they started their new life together in Moose Jaw, SK, where they raised their five children: Patty Friedrich (Will), Bruce Fulmore (Colleen), Denise Kitlar (Doug), Warren Fulmore (Stefanie) and Curtis Fulmore (Ann).
Fern will always be fondly remembered by her 11 grandchildren: Rob, Becky, Cheryl, Grant, Justin, Andrew, Laura, Rachel, Shannon, Ruth and Gilbert, and 15 great-grandchildren born over the last 15 years: Levi, Vienna, Ava, Audrey, Weston, Jackson, Lincoln, Heidi, Gentry, Jameson, Linden, Beau, Rosalee, Theodore and Ennis.
Fern is predeceased by her two brothers, Earl Elliott and her twin, Fenton Elliott and her three sisters, Evelyn Barbour, Muriel Brokenshire and Hazel Schoff. She outlived both her first husband, Arnold Fulmore and her second husband, Ray Repchinski.
Fern had a competitive nature and was determined that she was going to live longer than her siblings. She succeeded in making it to 90 to beat them all. Then held on until 91 years and 3 months, so that she could meet her two newest great-grandsons, the last one being born just 17 days before she passed into glory.
Four years ago, daughters, Patty and Denise, drove Fern to Estevan, SK for her sister’s funeral. It was really wonderful for the two sisters to see all their cousins again, and Fern had the best time. She thoroughly enjoyed seeing her many nieces and nephews for one last time. They will miss her now too.
Fern will be missed by her friends and especially by her life-long friend, Yvonne Dobrescu from Moose Jaw, SK. Yvonne had planned to come out to BC to surprise Fern in September, but with the smoke from the fires, the trip had to be cancelled. Fern would have been beside herself with excitement to see Yvonne. She came to a baby shower for granddaughter Cheryl, in August and she didn’t sleep at all the night before. They told us, next time don’t tell her until you are on your way.
Great-grandson, Jackson, got it right when he said “Well now that Gigi’s in heaven, she can have her finger back, and she can walk and run really fast.”
We would like to greatly thank all the staff at Westview Place. They loved Fern and appreciated her warmth and humour. They were very kind and caring to us as a family, especially the last few days. Nurse Barb prayed into Fern’s ears that there was no need to fear. That was such a blessing to us.
A Celebration of Life Service for Fern will be held at the Penticton Church of the Nazarene, 523 Jermyn Avenue on November 18, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Family will be arriving from Victoria, Stony Plain, Nakusp, Calgary, Castlegar and even Oklahoma. Please join us.
