We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Irish Hugh Robert McCardell on May 13, 2018 at the age of 92 years. 

He leaves to mourn his wife Susan; children Gary (Donna) and Christine; step-children Shane (Gwen) and Brenda (John); grandchildren Sandra, Jason, Ryan, and Courtenay; as well as 7 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his siblings John, Edward, Jim, and Maraquita.

Hugh was born in South Vancouver October 4, 1925 and raised in the Vancouver area.  In 1943, he enlisted and served in the RCAF.

Hugh lived his life to the full.  He was an incredibly hard worker and successful in his business ventures.  He was an aerobatic pilot and flew in air shows.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, travel, reading, hiking, and metal detecting.  He took interest in the politics of the day.  He was also passionate about animals and always had a German Shepherd at his side.

Hugh’s Celebration of Life will take place 11:00 a.m. on May 26, 2018 at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC.
