Irene Agnes Barwise (McQuarrie) reunited with her beloved Bill on January 18, 2023. She was born July 15, 1925 in Kelvington, SK to William and Hazel McQuarrie.
Irene grew up on her family's farm before moving to Vancouver in her 20s where she worked in a butcher shop and eventually became a telephone operator. She and Bill married in 1955 and remained in Vancouver until both retired in the 70s. Bill and Irene then moved to the Okanagan residing in Naramata and Penticton. They enjoyed the many Fridays at the Legion with their friends for the weekly sing-a-longs. Irene always had a song to sing which started when she was young and in her prime.
Irene is survived by brother, Duncan; daughter-in-law, Jeannie; stepdaughter, Doreen; 9 grandchildren and their families and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at both Village by the Station and Trinity Care Centre in Penticton whose care and support of our dear Irene/Nana will always be appreciated.
No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Irene's name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada at https://alzheimer.ca.
"Goodnight Irene, Goodnight."
