Jean Lewis Obituary

Jean L. Lewis of Summerland B.C. went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2022, at the age of 96.

Jean will be remembered and sadly missed by her daughter-in-law Judy Manson; Grandchildren, Shelley Manson (Tracey Robinson) of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Jason Manson (Cora) of Hillmond, Saskatchewan, and Billy-Joe Manson (Jacelle Lewin) of Marshall, Saskatchewan; two Great-Grandsons, Codey Robinson (Zoe Nolin) of Lloydminster and Tyro Manson also of Lloydminster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We must not forget her second family at Prairie Valley Lodge in Summerland, BC. Jean is sadly predeceased by her first husband Leonard Manson, her second husband Floyd Lewis, and her son Garry Manson, along with her Great-Granddaughter Ashley Marie Manson and both of her parents, Bertha Cleve and Manfred Cleve. Jean had 11 siblings who also passed before she: Ethel, Eddie, Chuck, Nellie, Wilford, Sadie, Don, Audrey, Clarance, Vern, and Marlene.

Jean grew up in Saskatchewan, farmed, and raised her son Garry with her then-husband, Leonard Manson. Later in life, moving from the farm, she ran a café in Paynton, Saskatchewan. She was also looking after concessions at Cochin (Jack Fish Lake), Table Mountain, and also the drive-in movie concession outside of Battleford, Saskatchewan. Jean then moved out to B.C. to spend time with her parents who had retired to the Okanagan. She met and wed Floyd Lewis, originally from the US but came to B.C. from southern Saskatchewan after selling his family farm. They spent their retirement together in Summerland. Jean and Floyd were very active in the Horseshoe Club which had them travelling and competing.

Jean was at one point a member of the Rebekahs and also very active with the Legion. Jean and Floyd would take trips back to Saskatchewan to visit family and friends. Most often in the Summer as Jean had no interest in coming back to Saskatchewan during the cold winters. She did however make an exception a few times to join her son Garry, his wife Judy, grandkids, and great-grandkids for Christmas and a hockey tournament or two. Jean and Floyd would spend their winters in Arizona becoming snow birds. Jean would take classes down in Arizona doing Zipper art and sewing to which she shared the handmade treasures she made. The passing of Floyd had Jean on her own. She did make a few solo trips back out to Saskatchewan to visit always in the summer.

Failing health had Jean joining a new family at Prairie Valley Lodge. She enjoyed her time there receiving exceptional care which put her family’s minds at ease out east. Jean resided there up until her passing.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Jean's name.
