Jean Margaret Robb

April 30, 1932 ~ October 24, 2021 (age 89)

Our dear mother Jean Margaret Robb passed away peacefully due to pneumonia and dementia with sons Donald and Kevin by her side at Trinity Care Centre.

Jean is survived by sons Donald and Kevin and was sadly predeceased by her parents George and Ethel, husband John (1990), son James (2019), brothers Bob, Jack, Don, Bill, and sister Evelyn.

Jean was born in Springvale, Ontario, and grew up on the family farm, the youngest of six. At the age of thirteen she volunteered at Grace Hospital run by the Salvation Army, Toronto.

After graduation from high school with honours, she entered the nursing program at Grace Hospital to be a registered nurse. She met the love of her life John Robb, a handsome young man on a first date. One year later, on October 30, 1957, they were married. After returning home from a vacation trip, visiting her parents in Penticton, first son James was born October 12, 1958. The following summer in 1959 Jean and John and son James moved west to Penticton. Then sons Donald, born in 1962 followed by Kevin in 1965. In 1966 Jean and John, seven-time gold medal bag pipe champion, started the Penticton Highland Games with their own money, and ran the games for eighteen years. They also started the City of Penticton Pipes and Drums.

Jean was actively involved with the Salvation Army her entire life. Jean loved music, singing, gardening, playing the bag pipes, guitar, bowling was the best cook, baker, and canned all kinds of fruits. She also loved to travel. Everyone looked forward to the Robbs residence for home cooking and baking. Mom enjoyed going with Dad to dances. She was a devoted mother and wife and also cared for orphaned kids until they could be adopted.   She cherished her husband and loved her sons. Jean was a generous kind loving mother who had a beautiful life, and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect mom. With love, until we meet again.

The family thanks Dr. Mark Lawrie and the Trinity Care Centre staff for their compassionate, attentive, loving care of Jean until her passing.
