It is with great sadness to announce that Joan passed away peacefully Thursday, November 16th, 2023, in Penticton at Westview place, with family by her side.

Born on April 4, 1934, in Manchester, England, Joan embarked on a remarkable journey that would span continents and generations. In 1954, she bravely left her homeland to start a new chapter in Canada, where she would build a life full of love, laughter, and enduring connections.

Joan was predeceased by parents John and Emily, and her seven siblings. She is survived by her children Michael (Laura), Craig, Stacey, Glenn (Traci), and seven Grandchildren Kristina, Kristopher, Emilie, Ryan, Danielle, Brendan, Devin and three Great Grandchildren Dawson, Jaxon, Greyson. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and always remembered in our hearts.

She met and married Mike Francis in 1957 in Vancouver and together they started their journey in life. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Joan poured her heart into nurturing her family. Her steadfast love and unwavering support were the cornerstones that held the family together through life's joys and challenges.

A woman of grace and kindness, Joan touched the lives of all who knew her. Her genuine warmth, infectious laughter, and nurturing nature will be greatly missed. She loved life and was a very positive influence to all who knew her. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a career as a post mistress and in her life volunteered at many organizations such as Girl Guides, Majorettes, Minor league baseball and Bowling leagues. She enjoyed singing with Sweet Adelines choir and she was known to break out in song at any time. She liked reading, sewing, and watching old movies and spending time with family.

A small celebration of Joan's life will be held in Penticton on April 4, 2024. Family and friends will be invited to come together to share stories, laughter, and the legacy of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many.

As we bid farewell to Mom, we take comfort in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the hearts of all those she loved. May she rest in eternal peace.

A special thank you to all the staff at Westview Place who looked after mom in her final years. You treated her with dignity and grace.
