Obituary

John (Jack) Alexander Balfour passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2023, at 88 years old. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his daughter Lisa Anne (Calgary), siblings Susan and Richard (Penticton), and nieces Christine (Ottawa) and Krystine (Penticton).

Jack was born October 16, 1934, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He spent his early childhood in Winnipeg, Head of the Lakes and Dauphin. His teenage years were spent in Flin Flon, graduating from Hapnot Collegiate. He attended United College (U of W) in Winnipeg then moved to Alberta. He lived in Medicine Hat, Edmonton, and Calgary. He worked in the Social Service Field for the City of Calgary, the Calgary Family Service Bureau, the William Roper Hull Home, and the Calgary Board of Education. He retired in 1999 and moved to Penticton, BC.

While in Penticton, Jack became a volunteer at the Penticton Museum. He also volunteered at the Elvis Festival and Jazz Festival for several years. Jack loved music and took singing lessons with Tracy Fehr for a number of years. He was a member of Tune Agers, Naramata Community Choir, and Musaic. He loved travelling and performing with those choirs.

Jack was very involved with the Oasis United Church as a member and served on the church board for a number of years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 16, 2023
