It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John Zahorodniuk at the Penticton Regional Hospital on September 29, 2023.
He was surrounded by his loving family and the compassionate Doctors from MAID.
Dad was born on May 27, 1935 in Culp, Alberta to John and Olga Zahorodniuk.
He was raised in a large loving family of 13 children.
After schooling in Culp, He left home to start his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator,
working on the construction of Highway 43 at Fox Creek, Alberta.
In 1958, He joined the IUOE where he was a proud member, working across Canada, for more than 65 years.
After retirement, Dad and Mom, lived several years as snowbirds in Arizona,
then travelled extensively throughout Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand.
He enjoyed playing accordion, guitar, fishing, golf, gambling and many happy hours spent with family and friends.
Dad leaves to mourn his loving wife and soulmate Myrna, son Patrick (Ellen), Daughter Sandra (Ken),
Grandchildren Mandy (Curtis), Robyn (Brad), Bailey (Alton), Mathew and his very special Great Grandchildren Laikyn and Cooper, who brought such joy to him in his later years.
He was predeceased by his Parents and 8 of his siblings.
Sadly, Dad had to bear the devastating loss of his youngest son Todd in 2022.
As per Dad’s request, there will be no memorial service.
