Jose Brazinha Pereira

Jose Brazinha Pereira of Summerland, BC, passed away to join his wife, Maria Pereira, and daughter, Anabela (Bela) Blystone, on October 4th, 2023, at the age of 81 years.

He was born on January 30, 1942, in Silvares, Portugal. As a young man, he lived in Angola for eleven years. After getting married to Maria and having their first child, Bela, the family immigrated to Canada. They lived in various places in the Okanagan and Edmonton, where Carla and Carlos were born, before achieving his dream of buying the orchard on Gartrell Road in Summerland in 1979. He took pride in working that land and sharing his knowledge of farming, as well as the annual Christmas lights display. Jose is survived by his children Carla (Julian) Beak, Carlos Pereira, son-in-law Gerald Blystone, and grandsons Ryan Blystone and Jacob (Coby) Blystone.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Child Catholic Church, 14010 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC, with Father Gabriel as the celebrant.
