Joy Elaine Chranowski

Joy was born on September 11, 1930 and she passed away on June 8, 2022 at the age of 91 years in Oliver, BC

Joy had an eventful life, giving birth to two children, Ken and Susan. She traveled extensively, to Tanzania, Africa to attend a wedding of a very good friend, the UK with her friend, Lodi visiting Ken, and she lived in Bridgetown, Barbados operating her business there. She loved her work in the Pathology Department at Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre, and previously at the University of Manitoba.

But the biggest thing in her life was marrying the love of her life, Peter Chranowski, 27 years ago in Las Vegas, NV. Peter proposed to her at the little church there and, of course, she accepted. Peter had recently moved back to Canada from El Cajon, California where he had a successful business in nearby La Mesa.

Joy and Peter, other than 3 years in Saskatchewan, have happily spent their retirement time in Oliver, and before that in Osoyoos, BC in the South Okanagan.

Joy was predeceased by her parents, Fred Smith and Vivian (nee Martin) and by her children’s father, Fred Rogers.

She is survived by her husband, Peter; children, Ken of Abbotsford, BC and Susan (Ed) Babiak of Winnipeg, MB and their children, Jordan and Jeffrey; stepchildren, Richard of San Diego, CA, Lisa (Mike) Conklin of Escondido, CA, and Laura of Vancouver, BC; 5 step-grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
