Larry Tully Obituary

In loving memory of Larry Stewart Tully who passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 19, 2023 in Penticton, BC due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Larry was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 30, 1949. He was raised on a dairy farm in Marquette, MB by parents Les and Edith Tully. He took his schooling in Warren, MB. After graduating he attended University of Manitoba where he received a degree in Agriculture.

While at University he met his future wife, Betty Lou Moffatt, and they married in Winnipeg on October 3, 1970. They spent 53 years together and raised four children (Shawn, Melanie, Scott and Chelsea), of whom he was extremely proud.

Soon after their marriage, Larry and Betty Lou spent some time travelling to Australia and New Zealand before Larry bought a dairy farm in Portage la Prairie, MB which he named West Prospect Holsteins. He built a prized herd of pedigreed Holsteins through his great knowledge of genetics. Others sought him out for his advice and expertise. He was proud of his accomplishments and worked very hard to build a successful farm and cattle herd.

He was a quiet, intelligent man with a dry humor who was always happy to have a conversation about world events, sports, politics, finances or any other number of topics, which he seemed to have a wealth of knowledge.

Larry is survived by his wife, Betty Lou and his 4 children and 6 grandchildren. Shawn (Karyn Audet) and grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Lukas. Melanie (John Wilkie) and grandchildren, Thomas, Jessica and Benjamin, Scott (Minet Prinsloo) and Chelsea; brothers, Doug (Irene), Keith (Cathy) and Howard (Wanda).
