Obituary

In loving memory -

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Lola Elsie Dieno, at the age of 88. Mom was born in New Denver, British Columbia.

At a very young age, Mom ventured out on her own spending most of her time with her Grandma, learning the secrets of growing an incredible garden, the skills for picking the best fruit, and the art of preserving. Her love of music and dancing grew from time spent listening to her father play the accordion.

To support herself, Mom worked in many restaurants throughout British Columbia including Grand Forks, Nakusp, and later in Princeton.  She was well known for her friendly service and her ability to handle the daily pressures of the restaurant business. Mom took pride in her responsibilities and made sure, that all of her customers got to know her and she got to know them. It was after moving to Princeton that Mom’s hard work in the restaurant business paid off. Mom took over as Manager of the Sandman Hotel in Princeton, overseeing the daily operations of the hotel and the restaurant.

While living in Princeton, Mom volunteered at the hospital, providing companionship to people living with a serious illness. Her compassion to help others was appreciated.

Loving mother to son Bill (Nelia), and Ken (Avril), as well as Grandma to many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Vern Dieno and son Richard Dieno.

Although our hearts are broken, we know that Mom is at peace. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no service. In Lola’s honor, the family asks that a donation be considered for the Alzheimer Society of Canada
