Margaret’s birth was both joyous and surprising because unexpectedly, a short time later her twin sister Frances arrived. Margaret was the oldest of five and grew up in depression era Silverdale, B.C. They remained a close-knit family that loved singing together.
She became a teacher practicing her craft for 10 years before marrying Bill on July 15, 1960. The newlyweds bought a farm in Summerland where they raised 5 kids, and over a 60 year period, welcomed the world to their little corner of paradise.
Having been shaped by the depression, she had a knack for turning nothing into something. Bill grew fruit and vegetables and she canned, cooked, baked, and sewed. Countless hours were spent on sewing projects as she always had something on the go. She was an exceptional scrabble player and beating her was a rare accomplishment.
She loved family, God, and music all of which gave her life meaning. She lived as if everyone was family. She touched the lives of those around her with her generous hospitable spirit until she received her ‘Welcome home’ from her heavenly Father.
Margaret will be remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband Bill. She leaves children; Ron (Gwen) of Calgary, AB, Susan (Ken) of Kelowna, B.C., Lana (Ken) of Summerland, B.C., Colin (Pam) of Kelowna, B.C., Alan (Paulette) of Boston, MA, Randal and Lyle and their families and seventeen grandchildren; James (Katie), Heather (Cassidy), Madalyn, Christina, Daniel, Chris, Carmen (René), Eric, Lucas, Katrina, Adam, Matthew, Jonny (Natasha), Melissa, Becca, Caleb, Jordan and three great grandchildren; Emily, Isabelle and Elly.
