Mary Eleanor (Moyer) Matthews

Mary Eleanor Matthews passed away on October 9, 2019 at the Penticton Regional Hospital with her family by her side. 

Mary will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her three children: sons Grant (Wendy) of Summerland, Brent (Simone) of Park City, Utah, and daughter Susan of Vancouver; and seven grandchildren: Lauren, Greg, Dan, Gabrielle, Julia, Kathrin, and Amelia. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John in 2018.

Mary was born on October 14, 1940 in Moosejaw, SK. After spending time living in Vernon, Vancouver, Prince George, and Portland, Oregon, she returned to her longtime home of Vernon, BC where she raised her three children. She and John retired to Blind Bay in 1989, and in addition to their many travels, she continued her love of curling, golf, sewing, and piano.  Mary will always be remembered as a loving mother and nana and was happiest at the lake with her family and close friends surrounding her.

A small private celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2020.

We would like to thank the staff at Prairie Valley Lodge in Summerland and Dr. Kyle Stevens, who showed incredible care and kindness to Mary and her family during the past 19 months. 

Mom, you will never be forgotten but you will always be missed. We love you.
