Olive Winifred Grant
March 28, 1920 ~ May 18, 2023 (age 103) 103 Years Old
Olive W. Grant passed away peacefully at Haven Hill Retirement Centre, Penticton, BC, on May 18, 2023, at the age of 103 years.
Remembered and missed by her sister Glenys Clark and nieces Margo Duperon and Susan Garvie.
Olive was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on March 28th, 1920. She enlisted in the Women’s Royal Navy at the age of 23 and was stationed in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
During her service, Olive was promoted to the rank of Leading WRN/Coder.
She was discharged in November of 1945 when her unit was demobilized.
From the end of the Second World War until her retirement in 1983, Olive worked as a civilian employee in communications at Canadian Forces Base Jericho, in Vancouver. Olive, we thank you for your service!
She was a member of the Eastern Star, Brock House, the Association of Covenant People, and the S Granville Seniors Centre.
Olive enjoyed golf, travel, the symphony, and playing bridge. She lived in Vancouver most of her adult life, only moving to Summerland to live closer to family shortly after her 100th birthday. She continued to live independently until February 2023.
A Graveside Service will take place on June 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Canyon View Cemetery, Summerland.
