Orinda Woo Obituary

The family of Orinda Mary Woo is saddened to announce her unexpected passing on March 18, 2022, at the age of 67 years.

Orinda was born September 22, 1954, in Vancouver, BC, where she spent the earlier years of her life enjoying the joys of urban living. She went to Kitsilano Highschool and continued to keep in touch with close friends from her teenage years, up until her last days. In Orinda's early twenties, to her dismay, she relocated to the beautiful northern town of Stewart BC, where she quickly fell in love with the people and the breathtaking scenery. She raised her 3 children into their teens in this small town, that she would always refer to as her family's hometown. In 1999, Orinda moved to Penticton BC, and lived between Coquitlam BC and Penticton for her last several years of her life.

Orinda had endless talents, and some of her greatest joys in life was when she was creating. From her mouth-watering culinary dishes to the beautifully crafted gifts she created for everyone she knew, Orinda knew how to make everyone feel welcome and special. Spending quality time with family and friends and being everyone's 'mama' were just a few of the things that made her so wonderful. Orinda had this incredible stubborn side, and never liked being told she couldn't do something. She was always up to challenging herself, so at 53 years old, she went back to college with her youngest daughter and proceeded to graduate top of her class and then was honored to be elected valedictorian. Orinda also recently decided to study and learn French in order to help her granddaughter with homework, often studying into the wee hours of the night. Her children, grandchildren, sister, and kitties were the loves of her life. She dedicated every minute of her life to them, making sure they were always taken care of, often putting her own health on the back burner. Kindness seeped through Orinda's entire soul, and she showed upmost respect and the greatest amount of love and appreciation to everyone she knew.

Orinda was predeceased by her parents Walter and Rose, and brother Kinsley. Orinda leaves behind with broken hearts, her brother Westley, sister Bonnette (Raymond), son Daniel (Christie) her 2 daughters, Clarissa (Nick), and Tiffany (Kyle), her 4 widely adored grandchildren, Sahara, Zane, Echo, and Isla, and all of her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their warmest gratitude and appreciation to all those who have reached out during this difficult time, especially to the family and friends that have checked in on them, helped out with meals, cleaning and contributing to Orinda's celebration arrangements.
