Paulette Brandt (nee Rietze), 63, returned to her heavenly home on April 29, 2021 after a valiant battle with ALS. Her dedication to her family and her firm belief in God and His Grace supported her in her struggle and ultimately granted her peace and ultimate healing. We rejoice and take great comfort, imagining her walking in Heaven, talking and laughing with those that have gone on before her.
Paulette is survived by her loving husband, Doug; her son Justin (Michelle) of Penticton, BC; son Jesse (Kali) of Vancouver, BC; her stepdaughter Angeline (Cayle) of Pender Island, BC; her grandchildren Breana (Kris), Jayden, Aidan, Kaley, and Maiya; her sister Kimberley (Jim); sister Heather (Dennis); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and dear friends beyond number.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Greg; and her parents, Fred and Eleanor Rietze.
Paulette was absolutely committed to her family, as Wife, Mother, Sister, Gramma and World’s Greatest Auntie. She embraced life to the fullest through her love of her golf community, her passion for art (pencil, painting and quilting), and her penchant for a glass of great local red wine. Paulette loved the sun of the Okanagan and Mexico; they won’t seem the same without her radiant smile. Most of all, she loved knowing that those around her were happy and cared for and ensured this, often through her own personal sacrifice.
Paulette was a driven professional woman of considerable ability. When diagnosed with ALS in 2018, she remained dedicated to her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a courageous, tender-hearted woman, even throughout her final months.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted once we are through these ‘unprecedented times’. If desired, donations may be made to the ALS Society of BC (www.alsbc.ca), who provided immense support to the family throughout the past 2 ½ years.
