Peter Webb Obituary

June 24, 1926 - February 26, 2024

With sadness, the family wishes to announce that long-time Penticton resident Peter Webb passed on February 26. Born in Coventry, England on June 24, 1926, to Sidney (Dick) and Marguerite (Peg) Webb. He attended King Henry the 8th School in Coventry prior to enlisting in the Royal Army in the latter part of WWII.

Peter was proud of his service in the Intelligence Branch, he was posted to Indonesia and northern India. After the war, Peter emigrated to Canada, briefly living in Toronto, Winnipeg, and Kelowna, and then settled in Penticton in the mid-1950s. Peter was a very sociable person with a remarkable memory. He was a natural salesperson starting in men’s clothing sales and ending his career in the insurance industry as a partner at Battison Insurance in Penticton.

Peter was predeceased by his parents; brother, Denys; his first wife, Janet (nee Colvine); and his second wife, June (Colvine, Margach) on December 10, 2023. He is survived by his sister, Frances Hosler of Edmonton. From his second marriage, he is survived by Ian (Donna) Colvine and Dawn (Ken) Colvine-Woo; as well as grandchildren, Ilene (Scott) Anna and Sarah Janis, Adam (Cindy Dolan) Colvine, Alex Woo, and Megan (Colin Hillson) Woo. Nieces and nephews include Trevor (Kory) Webb, Steven (Della) Webb, Ian Hosler, Andrew Hosler, Neil (Dana) Hosler, Allan (Corinne) Colvine, and Lori (Art) Brooking.

Peter was proud of his involvement with the Penticton JayCees and was granted life membership. His time with this service group included directing the Penticton Peach Festival parade for several years.

In July of 2022, Peter and June moved from their home in Penticton to Summerland Seniors Village as health issues meant they could no longer safely live independently. After several months, Peter’s health had declined significantly and he was admitted to Long Term Care in the same facility which allowed him and June to stay close together.

Thanks to Dr. Tom Irvine and the staff of Summerland Seniors Village for their care. We also are indebted to Laurie Kenzie who went above and beyond assisting Peter and June with their care and companionship.

Peter chose to be cremated; his ashes will be interred at a later date when the family can gather. No funeral service is planned.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
