Pragaya Devi Sharma

Pragaya Devi Sharma was born in Mahilpur, Punjab, India on June 5, 1932. She was the second eldest born to Pundit Baijnath Bali and Mrs Savitri Bali. At the age of 19, Pragaya married Mr Piara Lal Sharma of Churpur, Punjab, India. 

After her husband passed in 1983, she made a courageous move to Canada in 1986 with her two youngest sons to start a new life. She brought 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren into this world. She was known for her pure heart, positive attitude, living a joyous life, always smiling, and ensuring her friends and family were loved and well-fed. She left a lasting impact on every individual that she encountered and was a mother and friend to all. Pragaya, also known as “Gemma”, will be missed but never forgotten.
