Regine Anderson Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Regine Esther Anderson on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

Regine (“Gina”) was born on May 13, 1949, in Princeton, BC to parents Richard (“Dick”) and Marion Oelrich (née Govett). During her childhood, Gina lived in Princeton, Clearwater and Comox in BC, Borden and Trenton in Ontario, and Cold Lake in Alberta.

In 1971, Gina moved to Burnaby with her first husband, but in 1977, she moved to Penticton to be on her own.  It was in July of 1979 that she married the love of her life, Ron Anderson. They spent 16 wonderful years together until his death in October of 1995.

Gina was predeceased by her father Dick in 1990, mother Marion in 2003, and brother Ken in 2017.  Gina leaves behind her step-son Gerry (Maria) and their children Markus, Stephen and Francesca of Powell River;  brother Dale (Diana) Oelrich in Ontario; sister Narda Leeming (Terry) in Oklahoma; sister Adrienne Oelrich of Penticton; and sister-in-law Margaret Oelrich of Calgary.  Gina also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

Gina was a long-time square dancer, and for the last 25 years, was a well-respected and loved round dance cuer as well.  She touched the lives of many dancers throughout Canada and the US, and will be missed by many. Gina worked many years at Skaha Ford and retired from there in 2014.

Outside of work and dancing, Gina also enjoyed ceramics, cross-stitching and sewing, especially her one-of-a kind dresses.  Over the years, many family members and friends were given these beautiful, hand-made gifts - they will be treasured as a reminder of Gina.

A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Providence Funeral Homes Penticton Chapel. To watch a recording of the service, please click the link below.

Donations, for those who wish to make any, may be made to the Penticton SPCA as Gina was an avid cat lover.

“The time has come to clear the dance floor, cue the music for Gina and Ron to waltz away together.”
