Tegwen Lee Obituary

The family of Tegwen (Gwen) Lee is saddened to announce her passing at the age of 93 ½ years. She passed away peacefully, to be with her late husband, Don Lee, on September 26, 2023.

She will be remembered and sadly missed by her children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gwen lived in Langley from the early 1930’s until moving to Penticton in 2016 with her husband, Don, to whom she was married for 73 years. Gwen was a strong advocate for family while still forging a very successful career in the family lapidary and jewellery business. As a somewhat reluctant adventurer, she accompanied Don as they took on the challenge of gold mining in the Yukon in the late 1970’s. Perhaps operating the huge 930 Caterpillar loader helped prepare her for what might have been her most satisfying accomplishment: authoring and publishing her book “Rivers of Gold” in which she related many of their gold mining adventures and challenges.

In a nutshell she was a successful retail business woman, adventurer, published author, strong advocate of family. She appreciated fine art and furniture, loved gardening, and was married for 73 years. With a heart big enough for two people, she always put other peoples’ interests before her own, definitely setting a very high bar as a parental role model.

A Celebration of Tegwen's Life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at her home in Penticton. A Graveside Service will be held for Gwen and Don in Fort Langley in the spring.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Penticton Regional Hospital (S.O.S.) or Discovery House Penticton.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
