Joan Alicia (Rorke) Gilliard

Joan Alicia Gilliard (nee Rorke) passed away peacefully May 17, 2017 at the age of 85 years.  She will be remembered and sadly missed by her children Geoff (Sharon) Gilliard of Vancouver, BC, Beverley Hollenbeck of Calgary, AB, and Jody (Paul) Dunbar of Summerland, BC; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and siblings Jack Rorke and Gwen Gillespie, both of Calgary, AB.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Gilliard. 

Joan was a registered nurse and administrator of South Okanagan Health Unit and head of Home Care.  She was a lady; so full of humility, care, and love for others.  She was also a woman of sincere and deep Christian faith who lived what she believed; there was a true willingness to share her many gifts with others.

Her Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summerland United Church, 13204 Henry Ave., Summerland, BC with David Sparks officiating.  A private family interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Penticton, BC.  Memorial tributes may be made to Alzheimer Society – South Okanagan/Similkameen, 104-35 Westminster Ave. E., Penticton, BC V2A 1H7.
