Welcome to the memorial page for

Daniel Frank Fritsch

May 17, 1946 ~ August 11, 2017 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Daniel Frank Fritsch (May 17, 1946- August 11, 2017) passed away in Kelowna General Hospital with family by his side. He will be remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife Colleen of 32 years; children Lesley Schlitz of Regina, SK, Lance (Miriam) Fritsch of Spruce Grove, AB, Tara Klotz (Dennis Belton) of Sherwood Park, AB, and Maureen Klotz (Paul Delaney) of Mississauga, ON; grandchildren Morgan Fritsch, Chase Arnason, Samuel Schlitz, Jessica and Jayvid Tautu, Drew and Dylan Belton, and Ava and Liam Delaney; great grandchild Tahlia Isbister; and siblings Gertrude Nick of Thompson, MB, Geneva Nemeth of Humboldt, SK, David Fritsch of Englefeld, SK, Liz Duncan of Regina, SK, and Richard (Donna) Fritsch of Lloydminster, AB.  He was predeceased by parents Leonard and Margaret Fritsch, brother Kenneth Fritsch, and sister Carol Armstrong.

Dan was born in Humboldt, SK and raised on a farmstead in Englefeld, SK.

After grade 12, Dan began working for Schulte Industries in Englefeld.  In 1965, the lure of northern Manitoba took him to Thompson where he began his mining career with Inco (Vale). Upon his retirement in 1999, Dan loved to tell people he had joined the KOWW Club (Keep Our Wives Working) and would be willing to run for its president.  Dan and Colleen moved to Sherwood Park, AB in May 2004 and in October of 2010, they moved to Peachland, BC.

Dan loved to read and built an extensive library. Sharing books and discussing what he read was a favorite pastime. Dan also loved to bowl, golf and especially enjoyed curling. He made many friendships through these activities.

Dan was quiet, but when he did speak, people listened. He had a rather dry sense of humor and could hold his own during a joke telling session. Towards the end of his life, he often said he still had his sense of humor though now it was a “sick” sense of humor.

His interest in music led to a fondness of Country and Western songs and he especially liked Johnny Cash.  The song, Ring of Fire, became  Dan’s theme song.

Practical and softspoken, Dan often shared sage wisdom with family and friends.  A favorite life lesson was, “If it doesn’t go easy, then you are doing something wrong.”

A big thankyou to the wonderful doctors and nurses who provided care to Daniel.

To respect Dan’s wishes, no service will be held. Cremation took place August 17, 2017.
