Welcome to the memorial page for

John Pollard

September 1, 1916 ~ October 25, 2016 (age 100) 100 Years Old

POLLARD, John
September 1, 1916 – October 25, 2016

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of John Pollard, long time resident of Oliver, B.C. at the age of 100 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Laura (2010) after 70 years of marriage, John is survived by his three sons: John (Anne), Charles (Teresa), Ross; eight grandchildren: Karen, Tracey, Leigh, Angela, John, David, Candice and Bradley as well as numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his infant daughter Anne.

Born in England, John enlisted with the British Army and in 1947 he, his beloved wife and their first son immigrated to Toronto. In 1953, shortly after the birth of their third and final son, they then relocated to the beautiful mountains of British Columbia. Together John and Laura ran a grocery store in Fort Langley until their retirement in Oliver. For as long as he could, John volunteered while living in Oliver, namely helping seniors who needed transportation. He also helped run the local bowling alley for a number of years and helped to establish a local lawn bowling league in Oliver.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.”
